Photos: Hugo Chavez Funeral

My work, photojournalism, Still photography, Travel

I spent the day documenting a unique and emotional moment in the history of Venezuela and world politics today. Thousands of supporters gathered outside the Military Academy of Venezuela, where leaders from all over the world were present for the funeral of Hugo Chavez.

Shot on assignment for Zuma Press.

Photos: Pro-gun Activists Rally in Olympia, Washington

My work, photojournalism, Published work, Still photography

This weekend I covered a pro-gun rally at the state capitol in Olympia, Washington for Getty Images. The “Guns Across America” movement included rallies in capitals all over the nation on Saturday, January 19, 2013. I was glad to be covering something like this while the gun issue is such a hot button issue nationally. Over 1,000 people showed up to demonstrate and listen to speakers on the lawn in front of the capitol building. See more pictures here on the Getty site.

Tearsheet – The New York Times – Same-sex Marriage Photo in Seattle

My work, photojournalism, Published work, Seattle, Still photography

Thursday morning was a historic day for Washington state, as new same-sex marriage equality laws went into effect along with a marijuana legalization initiative. I was shooting on assignment for Getty Images and the pictures were published widely across the U.S. and internationally. See below for an image of mine in The New York Times of Jane Lighty and Pete-e Petersen, and read more here. Lighty and Petersen received the first same-sex marriage license in Washington state. Stay tuned for a larger gallery of images of mine that is coming soon.
