With the reelection of President Obama, the legalization of marijuana in Washington state, and a gay marriage referendum looking set to pass in the state, Seattle hit the streets and partied like crazy. See pics below.
I recently worked with University of Washington Bothell recruiter Ramon Stephens, who is also a talented musician, to produce a music video for the school’s recruiting efforts. Ramon wrote and performed the song with help from Lia Brown, who added vocals. Have a look at “That’s Our Name” below!

I was lucky enough to recently spend nine days backpacking on about 120 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail’s Section K in Washington, which is between Stevens Pass and Rainy Pass. It was a memorable experience and made for some great photos. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather and a successful, safe trip.

I recently had the opportunity to spend a few days in the wilderness making photographs in the Royal Basin area of Olympic National Park. It was truly stunning and a reminder of what a beautiful state Washington is. Below, I’ve created a short gallery of digital iPhone images. Check back soon for a new post featuring scans of instant prints I made with a Fujifilm Instax 210 – prints that are part of my ongoing instant print series on the Olympic Peninsula. Below: Police arrest a man after a standoff in an apartment building in Seattle’s First Hill neighborhood. According to police, the man discharged a gun in an apartment unit and began a standoff that last over four hours and required SWAT team assistance. There were no injuries reported.
Chelsea FC defeated Seattle Sounders FC 4-2 this evening in Seattle. It was a surprisingly even match and a great pleasure to shoot. Chelsea is fresh off a championship run in the most prestigious club competition in the world, the Champions League, and they also won England’s domestic cup competition last year, the FA Cup. This was a good test for the Sounders and a good warm as Chelsea’s first preseason friendly.

I filmed the University of Washington Bothell Commencement for the third year in a row and am really happy with the short film I was able to produce. This is always a massive event with lots of emotion, and as a UW Bothell graduate school alum myself, it’s always cool for me to see each new group of students graduate from this campus. Of course, the student body is growing so rapidly that commencement is now at Alaska Airlines Arena on the Seattle campus, and soon will be too large for even that venue …
